How To Clean a Patient Recliner

Tired of replacing patient recliner upholstered backs due to discoloration and cracking near the patient’s headrest area? Try this tip!

The discoloration near the patient’s headrest are on your patient treatment recliners is caused by oils and haircare products that leech into the vinyl. In addition to creating an unsightly appearance, these fluids break down the plasticizers in the vinyl, causing it to become brittle and crack over time.

The recliners are disinfected with a diluted bleach solution between treatments, but this doesn’t degrease the vinyl. To keep your chair back supple and clean, simply clean this area periodically with a household degreaser, such as Formula 409.

We can also install an inexpensive accessory called a headrest protective cover that is a square piece of vinyl that matches your recliner and protects this area from discoloration and cracking, ensuring many years of useful life for the chair back and eliminating the need to replace the expensive chair back.
