Chair-A-Medics, Inc. is a small business, based in Parkville, Maryland, which specializes in the cleaning, preventative maintenance, and repair of the medical recliners used in kidney dialysis facilities. Clients are located from Virginia to New Hampshire.
Because the chairs can only be serviced when they are not in use, our technicians work primarily in the evenings. Though start times can be as early as 8am, typical start times range from 12pm-3pm. Return times typically range from 11pm-3am. Our technicians typically work 4 days per week and average about 10-12 hours per day, though some days can be as long as 14-16 hours. Technicians are paid overtime for any hours over 8 hours per day. Friday and/or Saturday work may occasionally be required, but is uncommon at this point. Work is not scheduled on Sundays.
Frequent overnight travel is required. Though some trips are shorter, a typical overnight trip would consist of departing on Monday morning and returning late on Thursday night. All travel is by company van. Gas and hotel rooms are provided. However, the employee is responsible for their own meals.
All new employees begin as a technician's helper. With on-the-job training, new employees can move into the role of technician in as little as 16 weeks (depending on the aptitude, responsibility, and desire of the employee). At that point, the rate and frequency of pay increases will be at the discretion of the owner and manager. Health insurance is not provided.
All employees must have a valid driver's license and must submit to a background check and drug screening.
